Goodbye IMAlwaysHappy2Help – Hello Thinglish Lifestyle

September 25, 2016 in Internet Marketing Lifestyle

I set up this blog back in 2009-10 as a way to document what I was doing at a certain point in my life. However, now is the time to move on to a new chapter of my life and close

In 2008-9, around the time of the housing bubble burst, I decided to leave the UK for good and spend more time in Asia and live a semi-nomadic lifestyle.

I traveled to over 30 countries and got to know most pretty well, always choosing to take a path less traveled then hang out with other expats or live in a tourist bubble.

Before I left London I had a reasonably successful business that I could manage from my laptop and provide me with income to fund my lifestyle.

Actually when I first moved to Bangkok my lifestyle improved dramatically. I rented a condo by the Chao Phraya River for a firth of the price of a similar dwelling by the River Thames in London.

Food is abundant and cheap in Thailand and so is just about everything else, beers, clothes and taxi’s etc. So by reducing my overheads and freeing up more time, moving allowed me to concentrate on my business and build it up to something I could never have done back in England.

perry-thinglish-lifestyleAfter three years living in Bangkok and exploring Asia, I moved to Koh Chang Island with my partner, Katae. Koh Chang is Thailand’s second largest island (about the same size as Singapore) but probably the least inhabited due to its National Park status.

Around the same time I also incorporated my business in Singapore, so no going back to the old country for me.

18 months ago I married the love of my life and we have recently bought a large plot of land in Trat province. We are now developing this plot into a permaculture food forest and building a house from 5 shipping containers.

So as I’m no longer living what could be remotely called a digital nomad lifestyle, this will be my last post here.

I now have a beautiful wife, live rent and debt free on our own land that within the next few years will provide us with an abundance of fresh and organic food. I’ve finally found the freedom I was always looking for that being a digital nomad couldn’t quite live up to.

If you want to see what an old digital nomad does after he hangs up his backpack, visit my wife and I’s new blog Thinglish Lifestyle. It will be great to see you there and as always, I’m always happy to help.

Loy Krathong Festival

November 27, 2012 in Amazing Thailand

One of the most beautiful festivals in Thailand takes place on the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai calendar or November in the West. Loy means ‘to float’ and Krathong refers to the small floating vessels that are made to resemble a lotus flower. Traditionally these were made from banana leaves.

Along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok where I live, large boats and rafts are adorned with bright lights and loud music while above the sky is lit up with thousands of Khom Loi or sky laterns. These rice paper lanterns contain a small candle that heat the air trapped inside allowing the Khom Loi to rise in to the night sky until the candle has burnt out. Later in the night fireworks round of the festival.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Gig Review

Noel Gallagher came, saw and conquered the crowd at BITEC Bangna with a set list of Oasis classics and plenty of songs from his recent Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds project.

Concert goers paid between 1000 and 3000thb to see The Gov’nor in action. The most enthusiastic gig goers (the kids) were at the back while in front of the stage the crowd was predominantly made up of expats and their partners. I would imagine it was a quite night at Nana Plaza tonight. Never the less we all came out to hear some much needed international live music in Bangkok and Noel certainly delivered a quality set and sounded in great voice.

Mr. Gallagher, is a man of few words. I guess he lets his songs do the talking for him but he did come out with a few gems between songs and even dedicated ‘Whatever’ to the sex tourists.

Crowd pleasers tonight were Everybody’s On The Run, If I Had a Gun, It’s Good To Be Free and not forgetting Don’t Look Back In Anger which was the final song of the evening. The sing-a-long chorus nearly took the roof of BITEC which incidentally lends itself to be a fine venue for international live bands. The only disappointment was no Wonderwall, maybe next time!

Rock N Rolla's

Congratulations to the team at RockNRolla the concert promoters who made this gig happen. More power to you for bringing international talent to Bangkok. We need more live music here. Can you have a word with the guys of Bush, I gotta get a fix of Machinehead!

Maroon 5 are the next international artists lined up to play a sell out show in Bangkok. Who do you want to see play in BKK? Let us know who and why in the comments below.

A word to Chang Beer: Have two bars in the reception hall, there’s plenty of space and have your beer on draught instead of those half cans. And more Chang girls are always welcome!

A word to BITEC: Arrange taxis to be at the venue after the gig. You have a great live music venue but we don’t want to stay there all night.

Was Noel Gallagher Singing About Bangkok

September 17, 2012 in My Bangkok

Was Noel Gallagher Singing About Bangkok?

A simple song; it’s sometimes a strange and beautiful thing how we attach memories and emotional ties to songs. They can take us back in time and help us remember all manner of things from our past at hearing them again after many years and miles have pasted.

One such song for me is Cigarettes and Alcohol by Oasis. With Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds playing in Bangkok later this week I’ve revisited some of the Oasis back catalogue and some of the lines from that song took on new meaning to me. “You can wait for a lifetime, To spend your days in the sunshine… you gotta make it happen!” It’s a great punk song with a positive message mixed up with hedonism but one thing is for sure, whatever you want from life, no-one’s going to give it to you, you have to find a way to do it yourself!

Noel and the boys knew that. They took their band from Manchester and conquered the world. Now it’s your and my time to live the life we want to live. Don’t look back in anger, you’re free to be whatever you want to be! Make it happen!

Noel Gallagher – One Night in Bangkok

To this day, I can clearly remember the first time I heard Oasis ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ which is no mean feat considering my hedonistic lifestyle back then. I was in my hometown of Lincoln, England in a spit and sawdust pub when my ears were assaulted with the opening chords of what would turn out to be classic anthem by these ‘mad for it’ Mancunians’. Noel Gallagher – Solo

I never got the chance to see Oasis play live in their prime ‘Brit Pop’ days, I don’t know why! Then the brothers Gallagher had a fight too many and split up the band. Fortunately Noel continues to write great music and recorded a solo project; Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Now for anyone who knows me, will know I love music and can often bemoaning about the lack of bands playing in Bangkok. Going to gigs is just about the only thing I miss about no longer living in the UK. I mean I’ve lived here in Thailand for nearly two years and the only bands I can recall gigging here are Linkin Park, Magadeath, Jason Mraz and Lady Gadget. In 2 years… back in London we’d see more bands than that in a week!

Noel Gallagher BangkokSo it came as a very welcome surprise to hear that Noel Gallagher was paying a flying visit to Bangkok as part of is Asian tour. On all accounts this is the second time Noel has been to Bangkok, the first being in 2006 at the Bangkok 100 Rock Festival. This time he’s playing at BITEC, Bangna with Thai crooner Hugo in support.

So we eagerly await a night of rock n roll with rebel rousing Oasis classics like ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and ‘Wonderwall’ plus new material from his solo project. Mad for it? You can say that again!

IM Always Happy 2 Help!

This is the first of many posts and pages that will be full of helpful advice and resources for those new to Internet Marketing (IM) and looking to earn extra money working from home or living the dream and working from the beach.

I started Internet and affiliate marketing a few years ago and after around two years I turned the corner and started making a living from online marketing. I want to share what I’ve learned with others so you don’t make the same mistakes as me or waste any of your time, so you can fast track to make $100’s online everyday and live your dream, maybe in Thailand, just like me.

IM = Internet Marketing

I’m not a Guru or an Internet millionaire, I’m just a regular guy who likes the freedom and lifestyle working online with IM gives me. The freedom and flexibility to work from where I want, when I want and with who I want. You can do it too.

I left the grey skies and the rat race that is London and after living on Koh Chang island for a few months, I set up home in Bangkok (BKK) Thailand in April 2011. In this blog I will share some of my experiences with you about living in the strange and beautiful place they call ‘The Land of Smiles’.

Check back regularly and feel free to post your comments and advice to help others. Caring is sharing so get some of that good karma!
