Life Is Like A Dogsled Team. If You Ain’t The Lead Dog, The Scenery Never Changes.

“Life is like a dogsled team. If you ain’t the lead dog, the scenery never changes.”Lewis Grizzard, American writer and humorist,

For many people that are stuck working their way to the top in business, it can be excruciating to put in the time needed until funds are available to receive a raise or promotion. Business can be a difficult entity to move through and it may be some time before you are able to experience real freedom. In all truth, in today’s world there are many people that work through their entire careers and find themselves in a similar position even in their retirement.

While it is good to have financial security, it is also nice to have extra freedom in the workplace, and the ability to earn more money. There are many businesses that have little room for advancement, and only little opportunities to earn extra. This is why people who are able to freelance, or create their own business opportunities are the ones who can experience more financial freedom and personal growth.

Find your place in the online world

With thoughts of escaping this 9-to-5 grind, many workers are turning to an Internet lifestyle in order to find work and create work for their independent careers. There are plenty of opportunities for people online in many different sectors. You can become a freelancer, and use your existing skills to complete services for people online, become an Internet marketer and promote others products for commission dollars, or start your own business and sell products online through your own e-commerce site. All of these options will allow a person a great deal of freedom and the opportunity for advancement and a greater financial reward for success.

If you have left the previous position because you found the scenery never changes, consider working online as the scenery could constantly change. Working online gives you the ability to work from the beach, work from home or work from anywhere in the world that you choose. All that is required is an active Internet connection, a computer and a plan of action. How far will you go…

You’re Still A Rat If You Win Rat Race

October 31, 2013 in Internet Marketing Lifestyle, Marketing Quotes by Perry Stevens

The Problem With The Rat Race Is That Even If You Win, You’re Still A Ratrat race

“The problem with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.”Lilly Tomlin, American actress, comedian, writer, and producer.

The 9-to-5 grind is something that enslaves millions of people across the world. There are so many people that are wrapped up in corporations, working for other people and squandering their creativity each and every day. The true path to freedom in the workplace comes when you are ready to surrender yourself from working for a company and finally going out and making opportunities for yourself. It is a difficult thing to put yourself out there, but you will be rewarded by having more flexibility and an opportunity to possibly make more money by doing something that you love. When you are doing something that you love, money isn’t such a motivational factor, you’ll find other things that are more rewarding and fulfilling.

Earlier this month I was in Australia for a few weeks, visiting friends and seeing the sights in Brisbane, Newcastle and Sydney. I also went on a walkabout on Frazer Island. I even flew round the island taking off and landing from the beach that also serves as the islands main road… tides permitting! During this time my business kept on rocking and on my day of departure I got confirmation of a new business deal, my companies biggest to date.

I picked up a book at the Gold Coast Airport to read on my flight to Malaysia called The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss. I recommend you get a copy of it if you are looking to leave the rat race or work remotely from your office. It’s jammed packed with useful, practical advice. I know I can save a few extra hours a day by changing the way I work to give me even greater freedom.

The Purpose of Working

So many people experience stress in their jobs but will carry on working because of the financial incentive that it gets them. If you work at a job long enough there’s a good chance that you will get promoted and while this leads to more responsibility, you are also rewarded with a better financial incentive. Supposedly winning the rat race would mean achieving the status of the head of a company, but this only happens to a very small percentage of people. By going it alone you instantly become the head of your own company and you’re presented with all of the freedom you want depending when, where and with who you want to work with.

Find your Freedom

By working as a freelancer, entering into the Internet marketing lifestyle, or starting your own business you can work at attaining the type of freedom that most people in the working world can only dream of. The kind of freedom that allows you to work from the beach and run your business from anywhere in the world. While it is a large sacrifice to give up a well-paying job to pursue a dream as a freelancer, or to start a business on your own, it’s important to remember that you can take small steps first. Researching and beginning these options (reading the 4-Hour Work Week is a good place to start) when you are still working will allow you to have financial security until you’re ready to support yourself and work on your own terms when and where your heart desires.

All One Needs Is A Computer, A Network Connection, And A Bright Spark Of Initiative And Creativity To Join The Economy

internet marketing

“All one needs is a computer, a network connection, and a bright spark of initiative and creativity to join the economy.”Don Tapscott, a business executive, author, consultant and speaker, specializing in business strategy.

In today’s business economy, many are creating opportunities for themselves. Whether it is through seeking out freelance work, offering up a product or service online, trading or even networking and marketing the money is out there. Depending on the skills that you may have is quite possible that you could achieve the ultimate freedom in your employment.

We see advertising everywhere with the ideal setting of an employee being able to work on the beach. In today’s economy, this idea is more possible than ever. The Internet marketing lifestyle has been taken on by many freelancers and depending on your skill set and training, it isn’t that difficult to get a slice of some of that Internet marketing money. Retailers around the world are interested in advertising their products online and are willing to pay Internet marketers a fair commission in order to produce promotional materials for their products and to send visitors and customers to their websites. There are thousands of Internet marketers across the world who are working each and every day to produce this content or manage social media advertising accounts and are making healthy salaries as they do it… even from the beach!

The Internet Marketing Lifestyle

While it may be hard for some to imagine avoiding the 9-to-5, or even a commute to work there are so many people who are able to live an Internet marketing lifestyle thanks to a bit of creativity and initiative. Starting a business online, finding freelance work or becoming an Internet marketer is an option that’s available to just about anyone. With a bit of research, and the ability to harness your creativity each and every day you can begin down this road and start an Internet lifestyle for yourself. In most cases, access to a computer and a network connection is all you need to start creating your own employment opportunities and rewarding work for your future that some can only dream about.

Entrepreneurship – Fortune Favors the Brave

October 17, 2013 in Internet Marketing Lifestyle by Perry Stevens

Entrepreneurship

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”

You have probably heard or seen a variety of promotional material talking about working from the beach or the financial freedom associated with entrepreneurship or starting your own business. What many of these promotional materials fail to mention is the early start up of the business and the amount of work that it takes to actually become a successful entrepreneur. Some even go as far as trying to sell a ‘magic button’ but save your money, there are no push buttons solutions to starting a new venture online. The truth is most people are unwilling to roll up their sleeves, get on their bike or take this risks to complete all of the work it takes in order to eventually experience these freedoms.

One person who isn’t afraid of a little hard work is Richard Marriott. I met Richard online when he reached out to me from China for a blog post he was writing about Local SEO. He is now holed up in the French Alps on his latest entrepreneurial adventure with nothing much more than a donkey and a girl in a Spar shop for distraction. (I’m unaware if the Donkey speaks English or indeed if Richard speaks Donkey) To follow Richards on his entrepreneurial journey, click here. I’m sure you’ll get inspired and learn something and I’m sure he’d like to hear your words of support, remember he’s only got a donkey to talk to!

If you have an idea, or skills that you can use to work online it can be big risk to take these skills away from your existing employment and financial security. This is why many people begin to start working on their entrepreneurial endeavors as a part-time venture before jumping in fully. This can mean long hours far beyond your existing work week and for these reasons a lot of people simply avoid pursuing entrepreneurship. It’s easier to go to the pub, crash in front of the TV or just relax. My advice would be to get ‘Rock n’ Roll’ and throw your TV out the window. It’s a complete time suck and you don’t need it or will miss it!

Fortune Favors the Brave

In the best case scenario you can begin an entrepreneurial venture while you are unemployed and have full-time hours to commit to it. This is what happened a lot when the US and Europe experienced a sudden rise in unemployment as a result of the recession (and continued depression… don’t get me started!). Many entrepreneurs were creating start-ups and working online to address the need for new employment and to fix the economy without having to resort to chasing the minimal amount of jobs that were available. Still, there were a vast majority that held out to find work with a company that was hiring. Well good luck to them, the situation isn’t getting better any time soon, so now is as good time as any to get started down your entrepreneurial path.

Entrepreneurship can eventually allow you to find your way into the freedom of being able to work from the beach, or set your own hours, but it takes real work to get to this point. This is why so many start-ups and online businesses fail so quickly. New business owners are expecting freedom right away and are unmotivated to continue without seeing financial benefits and flexible hours in their near future. No one said it was going to be easy and if it was, everyone would be doing it. And where would the fun be in that? But with a little guidance, perseverance and the right attitude you can and will make it.

I’ll see you on the beach!

The Social Network

Understanding Social Networking

social network

“LinkedIn is for the people you know. Facebook is for the people you used to know. Twitter is for people you want to know”

Understanding the purpose of each social media website is very important. Companies don’t advertise on Twitter the same way that they would post a profile on LinkedIn, leading by other companies’ examples and the long-standing purpose for each social media advertising strategy is important to having success in online marketing.

LinkedIn

This popular interface is excellent for making business connections and for finding other companies that you may want to work with. The idea of the Linkedin social network is for businesses to very quickly connect and work with each other. You can have all of your business contacts, suppliers, major customers, advertisers and more at your fingertips utilizing this system and also find more potential companies that you could work hand-in-hand with to expand your brand.

Facebook

Facebook is truly the all in one social media account. Businesses can create their own individual pages to post content from YouTube, Flickr and a variety of other media sharing accounts. Sharing content from an individual business website is also made very easy using a Facebook share button. A great strategy for businesses is to reach out to existing customers and old customers with Facebook to engage them with new content. As preexisting customers share their favorite products from a business it can also work to generate new business across the Facebook network. Because sharing and connecting is so easy on Facebook it can generate a lot of organic sales.

Twitter

Twitter is a great platform for reaching out to new people. Because following trends on Twitter is so easy and searching out users can be done very quickly, it doesn’t take long for you to start coming into contact with people who you would like to connect with. By producing content that is directed toward your target market as well as connecting with new members of your target market across the network, you can generate some spectacular sales using Twitter. Although a character limit and small profile doesn’t seem like much work with, you can submit a lot of information in just a single tweet.

Looking for Attention

October 3, 2013 in Marketing Quotes by Perry Stevens

Do You Want to Buy Attention or Earn Attention?

Internet Marketing - Earning Attention

You can buy attention (advertising). You can beg for attention from the media (PR). You can bug people one at a time to get attention (sales). Or you can earn attention by creating something interesting and valuable and then publishing it online for free.” – David Meerman Scott, Best-Selling Author & Speaker

Businesses want attention in order to sell their products and services to the general public. In order to get this attention many businesses are prepared to spend millions of dollars directing traffic towards their products and services as well as their business. Organic attention however can come from something as simple as creating engaging content and publishing it through social media accounts, a website or blogging interface.

So many companies will pay money for the top ad slots, high budget commercials with professional endorsements and more, all to get their company name and products out into the marketplace. Many new start-up companies however are utilizing the web and social media to start generating a buzz about their products.

Content is King

Producing a video online and posting it to YouTube can be extremely beneficial for a new product if it is something that people truly need. Showing off a revolutionary new product over YouTube or any other video sharing channel, can lead to sales by demonstrating its worth.

This type of advertisement is completely free, posting a video can be done on YouTube by anyone and viewing YouTube videos is easy for anyone with Internet access. Sharing videos can also be done through various other social media platforms such as Facebook and twitter with just the click of a button. By producing video content and publishing it on YouTube many companies have found success with their product sales. Companies can also work to increase product sales by producing material showcasing their business and the people that work in it.

Optimized blog articles and video documentaries about a business can be very beneficial to creating rapport with customers. If a customer can relate to a company and attach a personal connection to a company they will be much more excepting of new products and services offered by a company.

It is with this promotional material and engaging connection, that many new companies are creating interesting and valuable content for driving sales and publishing it for free.

Are You a Pirate or a Sailor?

September 23, 2013 in Internet Marketing by Perry

“Why join the navy if you can be a pirate?” – Steve Jobs

internet marketing

When many entrepreneurs get a business idea they are very quick to bring more people on board or to sell that idea to start generating more revenue more quickly. This is not always the best practice, rushing towards a Corporation or incorporating yourself as a business could mean that you are missing out on money in the long run.

Many startup companies are having great success on small budgets with great ideas. If you feel as though you have got a product that people truly need, it should sell itself. With a variety of tools at your disposal such as: social media networks or sites like Kickstarter. And even small business loans, you can work to get your idea off the ground without having to rush to more people or to a larger company to produce your idea.

To Be A Successful Entrepreneur!

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs in history have stuck by their ideas and worked with them even after multiple offers to sell. While it is true some ideas can be more profitable to sell away then hold onto for a lifetime, it is important to really think about this decision before you go about expanding your company or asking for large corporate help.

Today with the Internet it’s very easy for a company to start selling products online and marketing their own products using social media. Even if you have zero startup money you can use the social media website such as Kickstarter or Indiegogo to raise money for excellent products without having to worry about paying back enormous interest costs. This makes working in today’s business world of very exciting opportunity for anyone with great ideas.

While many people believe that the trust form of business success resides in incorporation or in having a major advertising slot on television and worldwide brand recognition, many startups are doing just fine without all of this bloating help. The help can be extremely beneficial but having an idea and complete creative control over it is a great way to you can ensure your business remains yours and your money remains your own.

Freedom

February 2, 2013 in Internet Marketing Lifestyle by Perry Stevens

Internet Marketing Lifestyle=FreedomFreedom, what does the word mean to you? For me freedom is the biggest motivational factor that gets me up in the morning eager to experience a brand new day full of endless possibilities. Freedom for me is a value I hold above all others.

I set my business up with freedom built into it. What I mean by this is when I was looking to start a new company it had to give me the flexibility to live and work where I want and when I want. Of course we are living in a golden age of communication that allows us to do just that. A privilege not afforded to my parents or even to us even 5 years ago. Such is the speed of new technologies available to us.

Today I run a successful local search marketing company and makes three figures a year. I could make a lot more but then it would be like a ‘proper’ job and who wants one of those? Not me Sir! I refuse to grow up and instead live a life many only dream off. I live in Asia by choice having left the cold, grey city of London behind over two years ago.

Today I’m writing this blog post from my smartphone (Galaxy S3) with a WordPress app while sat in The Geographic cafe in Malaka, Malaysia. If you ever find or loose yourself here try the sour plum drink. Its got to be the most refreshing and healthy drink you can have in this heat!

In the next few days I will travel back up to the amazing Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpa before flying back to Bangkok Thailand a few days later. Then we’ve planned a weekend at the exclusive Royal Cliff Hotel in Pattaya. All the time I’m I’m traveling and experiencing new cultures, meeting interesting people and seeing the wonders this world has to offer us, Im in total contact with my clients, virtual staff and associates and of course making money.

I tell you all this not to brag but to open your mind to your own possibilities of a freer lifestyle only the Internet can bring. Let’s face it, if I can do it, so can YOU!

If you value your freedom and want to earn money from home, by working from the beach a few hours a day or traveling on paths less traveled you need to start investing in your future and learn Internet marketing strategies that really work.

Benefits of the Internet Marketing Lifestyle

An Internet marketing lifestyle will free you from the modern slavery we are all born and conditioned to live in. You leave school with a limited knowledge and a one world view. You go to university and leave with a huge debt. You get a job if you are lucky (depends how you look at it) but never earn enough or have the time to enjoy traveling, your hobbies, write that book or spend time with your family. You get more into debt living in a house the bank owns, maybe drive a car the bank owns or even have to take a second job to support your family. Sound familiar? Working for ‘the man’ you are trapped as a slave wage trading hours for dollars.
Its time to break free and enjoy your freedom, but how do you start and begin to learn the knowledge that you can build into a successful and rewarding business helping others on the way?

Come back to this site and read how I built a business up from ground zero that in just a few short years allows me to live the dream. Of course I made many mistakes on the way and learned by sheer bloody mindedness. You will be able to learn from my mistakes and my successes and have a business up and running in a matter of months so you too will be able to start living your own Internet marketing lifestyle.

Loy Krathong Festival

November 27, 2012 in Amazing Thailand by Perry Stevens

One of the most beautiful festivals in Thailand takes place on the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai calendar or November in the West. Loy means ‘to float’ and Krathong refers to the small floating vessels that are made to resemble a lotus flower. Traditionally these were made from banana leaves.

Loy Krathong Festival

Along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok where I live, large boats and rafts are adorned with bright lights and loud music while above the sky is lit up with thousands of Khom Loi or sky laterns. These rice paper lanterns contain a small candle that heat the air trapped inside allowing the Khom Loi to rise in to the night sky until the candle has burnt out. Later in the night fireworks round of the festival.

Phuket Vegetarian Festival

November 12, 2012 in Amazing Thailand by Perry Stevens

Phuket Vegetarian Festival

Starting on the evening of the 9th lunar month and lasting ten days and nights is the incredible Phuket Vegetarian Festival or Jai Chai in the local Hokkien Chinese dialect. This is one of Thailand’s most colorful festivals and has been held annually since 1825.

I recently flew down to the beautiful island of Phuket to witness this festival having missed it last year. I stayed in Phuket Town to be in the thick of the action as the things I wanted to witness started very early in the mornings.

Phuket Vegetarian Festival – Jai Chai

A short walk from my accommodation at 5.30am led me straight to the Jui Tui Shrine were already a sizeable crowd had gathered. Here hundreds of males and even some females were piercing their faces and other body parts with an array of  large metal spikes and inserting chains, guns, a boat, daggers and just about anything else you can imagine… yep even the garden gate!

Some others had hundreds of small needles with feathers attached inserted under there skin along both arms, across their shoulders and around their eyes. In all cases these extreme piercings resulted in little or no blood and each individual seemed to be in some kind of trance state.

After photographing dozens of these people with extreme pieceings, they all gathered together and a procession left the shrine to wind it’s way through the streets of Phuket.

I caught up with the procession in the centre of town where thousands of people all dressed in white lined each side of the street. The carnival atmostphere was no matched for the noise of thousands of fire crackers that were set off making it almost impossible to breathe in the clouds of acrid smoke.

By midday it was all over for another day so we made a retreat from the hot and dusty streets for a hearty brunch at The Gallery Bar.

There are many other rituals to to see and experience throughout the festival week including fire-walking, food offerings, incantations and bladed ladder climbing. There are also ten rules for the Vegetarian Festival that the locals follow.

10 Rules for The Phuket Vegetarian Festival

Phuket Vegetarian Festival - Thailand1. Cleanliness of bodies

2. Clean kitchen utensils

3. Wearing of white clothing

4. Behaving both physically and mentally

5. No meat eating

6. Abstaining from sex

7. Abstaining from alcohol

8. People who are in the mourning period should not attend the festiva

9. Pregnant women are forbidden from watching any rituals

10. Women menstruating should not attend the rituals

I was surprised by the small number of tourist at this festival and while it may not be everyone’s cup of tea it is definitely worth attending at least once to witness this unique Thai/Chinese Buddhist/Taoist festival in amazing Thailand.
