Giving Back – Cambodian Kids Care Center

December 22, 2014 in Amazing Thailand, Koh Chang by Perry

Cambodian Kids Care Center

It’s always good to give back. This year we choose the Cambodian Kids Care Center on Koh Chang, Thailand.

voluteer thailandCambodian Kids Care Center is a school for the children of illegal Cambodian workers on the island of Koh Chang, Trat Thailand.

The children’s parents work in construction, gardening and in the luxury resorts throughout Koh Chang. Often you will see children of these poor migrant workings on the building sites.

This center offers these kids aged between 6 and 15 years old a safe refuge and free education by teacher Uan. They learn Thai, English and Maths from Monday to Friday.

We had a fun day making strawberry smoothies, distributing presents and helping out over lunch. The kids sang Christmas carols in perfect pitch and pronunciation.

We would like to thank all our friends in Bangkok, Foto Relax, friends in Siam Royal View, Monkey’s Restaurant and Scuba Dawgs for donating presents, money, food and their time and making a real difference to these bright young kids.

If you would like to help visit the Cambodian Kids Care Center Facebook page or contact teacher Uan or Administrator Aaron on 09-243-4712.

Island Life – Picture Perfect Laptop Lifestyle

April 27, 2014 in Internet Marketing Lifestyle, Koh Chang by Perry Stevens

Laptop Lifestyle - Working on a TanI’ve been off the radar lately but I’ve not disappeared entirely. I have just been busy with other multiple projects and never found the time to get back on my blog.

Koh Chang

When I first started this journey in South East Asia I was on the island of Koh Chang. One of my favorite place in the whole world. For the last three years I’ve been living in Bangkok but for some time I’ve wanted to escape the city (even though I have had a mini break every couple of months). I love Bangkok and it’s an easy place to live and travel from. I can generally be at an international airport between 30 and sixty minutes and fly to Oz, Singapore, Bali, HCMC or any other of my favorite destinations.

However the appeal to go out and party like I used to and with the current political crisis lurching towards civil ward, I thought it made for the perfect time to get out the city and get back to natural and slower pace of life. So here I am again, where it all started on Koh Chang, elephant island.

I’ve also recently incorporated my business in Singapore for better tax efficiency and let’s face it, it’s only a 2 hour flight there and not a full day getting back to the grey, old UK. So moving homes and moving a business has kept me busy (Aren’t the the two most stressful things you can do?). I’ve also teamed up with one of my company managers to start another business and we are spending all our time ‘out of work hours’ setting that up. I won’t say anything about it here for now but it’s a very exciting project and one that I have dreamed about for a long time.

Are You Living the Laptop Lifestyle? IM Always Happy 2 Help!

So now I’m setting up a comfortable home with my girlfriend and looking to purchase some land on the island to build our dream home, get off-grid and produce our own food. We have already started planting on a small scale and hope to soon taste the fruits of our labor. Things grow fast in this tropical climate! So watch out for gardening tips and building a sustainable home here soon.

With that being said, it’s time to go and water the plants. I’m in domestic bliss!
